Malaysian Media Fell Prey To Rick Astley's Death Hoax

A Malaysian's news source,"Malaysian Star' online, seemed to have fallen prey to the latest celebrity death hoax of Rick Astley's and misreported his death.

The headline as it appeared on Google news.




But when I clicked onto the link, it led me to a page that says "News File Not Found".

Haha! The paper must have removed it.

CNN: Rick Astley Found Dead

"According to CNN’s iReport Astley’s body was found at the Angleterre Hotel in Berlin after an ambulance responded to an emergency call from his hotel room. Astley was found unconscious in his hotel bedroom and was unable to be resuscitated. He was pronounced dead on the scene."

Haha^^ NOT!

UK website, 'The Dish', has debunked this nasty rumor:
"But the thing is with this… yes it comes from a CNN source… but iReport is a user generated report system and you can link to submissions before they’ve been properly published.

So we can confirm that Rick Astley is NOT dead."

The Dish further wrote, "Britney Spears has also fallen foul of the internet when a couple of days ago someone hacked into her Twitter account via TwitPic and announced that she was dead, thankfully this was spotted by the singers staff pretty quickly and taken down.

Since the death of Michael Jackson there has been a surge in fake reports of celeb deaths such as Harrison Ford, Jeff Goldblum and Natalie Portman."
